Race Summary & Analysis (2026)

Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli delivered a masterful performance to secure victory at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. The Italian rookie controlled the race from the front, finishing with a comfortable 6.271-second advantage over Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton secured a strong second-place finish for the Scuderia. The final step of the podium was claimed by Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar, who crossed the line 23.394 seconds behind the race winner, marking a significant result for the team after a challenging weekend.

Behind the top three, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri clinched a valuable fourth place, finishing just ahead of Liam Lawson. The Racing Bulls driver’s fifth position, combined with teammate Arvid Lindblad’s impressive sixth-place result, earned the team a crucial double-points finish. Further down the order, Pierre Gasly brought his Alpine home in seventh, followed by Alexander Albon, who scored points for Williams in eighth. The final points-paying positions were filled by Esteban Ocon for Haas F1 Team in ninth and Fernando Alonso, who took the last point for Aston Martin in tenth.

The race was marked by considerable attrition, with four drivers officially classified with a DNF. This group included pre-race favorite Max Verstappen of Red Bull, McLaren’s Lando Norris, Haas rookie Oliver Bearman, and Cadillac F1 Team’s Valtteri Bottas. In addition to the official retirements, Carlos Sainz (Williams), home hero Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) also failed to finish the race but were classified in positions 16 through 18, having completed a sufficient percentage of the race distance.
