Leclerc continues his strong Mexican form
Charles Leclerc once again topped the timesheets during the second free practice session for the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver repeated his performance from the opening session, though his advantage was smaller with the full grid of regular drivers on track.
Lando Norris finished the session in second place for McLaren, narrowly ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell. The gap between the two British drivers was a mere three-thousandths of a second, setting the stage for a tight qualifying battle.
A disrupted session for Verstappen and Hamilton
Max Verstappen, returning to his car after sitting out the first practice, had an eventful session that brought out the weekend’s first red flag. The Red Bull driver sustained damage after an incident with Liam Lawson, forcing a return to the pits for checks on his car.
The session was also interrupted for Lewis Hamilton, who stopped his car at the side of the track with technical problems. Despite his earlier disruption, Verstappen eventually found his rhythm to finish in fifth, just ahead of a resurgent Isack Hadjar who recovered well from his FP1 engine issues.
