McLaren Racing recorded a $56 million operating loss in 2025, despite a successful season on track. The company’s annual report, filed in late September 2026, detailed the financial performance. This occurred while CEO Zak Brown received a compensation package exceeding $110 million for the year.

McLaren-Mercedes secured both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships in 2025, with Lando Norris winning his first world title. Oscar Piastri finished third in the Drivers’ Championship. This marked McLaren’s second consecutive Constructors’ title and first Drivers’ title since 2008.

The racing operation generated a record turnover of £588.5 million in 2025, an increase of nearly £100 million from the previous year. However, increased administrative costs, including significant share-based payments, contributed to the operating loss. The pre-tax loss was £43.8 million, leading to a bottom-line loss of £17.4 million after tax.

Brown’s compensation package, which included a base salary of £8.215 million and £73.682 million in long-term incentive payments, was largely influenced by a share award. This award was triggered by the buyout of minority investors in McLaren Racing.

The McLaren Group underwent significant restructuring in 2024 and 2025, simplifying its ownership. Bahrain’s Mumtalakat Holding Company now owns 75% of McLaren Group Limited. Abu Dhabi’s CYVN Holdings holds the remaining 25% of McLaren Group Limited.

McLaren Group Limited holds 100% ownership of McLaren Racing, which manages the Formula 1 and IndyCar programmes. The F1 business valuation increased from $750 million in 2020 to $4.5 billion in 2025. This provided an annual return of approximately 45% for exiting financial investors.

The road car division, McLaren Automotive, now operates under separate ownership. CYVN Holdings acquired 100% of McLaren Automotive in April 2025. This entity is controlled by McLaren Group Holdings. McLaren Automotive was merged with electric vehicle start-up Forseven in April 2025.

McLaren Automotive’s full-year deliveries in 2025 decreased by a third, from 3,000 to 2,000 cars. First-quarter 2025 deliveries dropped by nearly 40%, from 796 to 483 units. The company aims to maintain exclusivity rather than pursue high volume.

CEO Nick Collins is considering expanding the US dealer network by up to 40% over the next two years. The United States currently accounts for over half of McLaren’s global sales. New models, including a successor to the P1 and a five-seat vehicle, are planned for future release.

The McLaren Heritage Collection contained 203 cars at the close of 2025. McLaren Racing is offering five historic Formula 1 cars from this collection for private sale. These include two 1991 MP4/6A chassis, a 2012 MP4/27A, a 2021 MCL35M, and a 2023 MCL37A.

The cars for sale include those tested by Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton, and one driven by Brad Pitt for a film. Estimated values for these vehicles range from £5 million to £10 million each. The combined valuation of the five cars is estimated between £25 million and $50 million.

In the current 2026 Formula 1 season, McLaren holds fourth position in the Constructors’ Championship with 355 points and two race victories. Lando Norris is sixth in the Drivers’ Championship with 211 points, and Oscar Piastri is seventh with 144 points.

McLaren will also enter the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class from 2027. On-track testing for the MCL-HY Hypercar commenced in May 2026. The 2027 WEC calendar includes races at Le Mans, Spa-Francorchamps, and Silverstone.
