Race Summary & Analysis (2026)

Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured a commanding victory for Mercedes at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, leading a dominant 1-2 finish for the team. Teammate George Russell crossed the line 3.857 seconds adrift to claim second place. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completed the podium, finishing a distant 14.718 seconds behind Antonelli, unable to challenge the pace of the Mercedes duo.

Behind the leaders, McLaren locked out the fourth and fifth positions, with Lando Norris narrowly finishing ahead of Oscar Piastri. Lewis Hamilton brought his Ferrari home in sixth. Alpine F1 Team achieved a strong double-points finish with Pierre Gasly in P7 and Franco Colapinto in P9. Racing Bulls mirrored that success, with rookie Arvid Lindblad securing an impressive P8 finish, while teammate Yuki Tsunoda collected the final point in tenth.

The race saw three retirements, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso failing to finish. A double DNF for Aston Martin was confirmed as Lance Stroll also retired from the event. Four other drivers were classified but did not complete the full race distance: Sergio Pérez (Cadillac), Alexander Albon (Williams), and Esteban Ocon (Haas) all finished one lap down, while Valtteri Bottas (Cadillac) was two laps in arrears.
