Andrea Kimi Antonelli delivered a commanding victory for Mercedes at the Japanese Grand Prix, completing 53 laps to finish 13.722 seconds clear of the field. The Italian driver’s dominant performance left McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to claim a strong second place. The final podium position was secured by Charles Leclerc, who brought his Ferrari home in third, crossing the line 15.270 seconds behind the race winner and narrowly ahead of the second Mercedes.
Just off the podium, George Russell finished a close fourth, a mere half-second behind Leclerc. McLaren’s Lando Norris sealed fifth position, followed by Lewis Hamilton in the second Ferrari for sixth. Pierre Gasly earned valuable points for Alpine in seventh, while Max Verstappen endured a difficult race for Red Bull, finishing in an uncharacteristic eighth place to collect four points. The final points were awarded to Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls in ninth and Haas F1 Team’s Esteban Ocon, who secured tenth.
Two drivers were classified but failed to complete the full race distance. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was the first to retire from the proceedings, having completed 30 laps before his race ended. The Haas of Oliver Bearman also failed to finish, with the British driver being recorded as completing just 20 laps before his retirement from the Grand Prix.
