Scuderia Ferrari HP has unveiled a special livery for the upcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. The design, revealed on October 21, 2026, draws inspiration from the concept that every Ferrari begins with a line on paper.
The livery features a white engine cover incorporating black sketches, technical drawings, and blueprint-inspired graphics. This visual tribute highlights the creative and engineering processes involved in transforming an idea into a Formula 1 car.
Developed in close collaboration with title partner HP, the livery will adorn both SF-26 cars driven by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. The design elements are typically concealed beneath the car’s finished bodywork.
Silvia Cavallaro, Ferrari’s head of colour and trim, stated the livery celebrates the journey from idea to reality. She noted that every Ferrari begins with creativity and engineering expertise long before reaching the track.
Thanks to our collaboration with HP, we were able to bring that process to life visually and tell a story that reveals the craftsmanship and innovation behind the performance.
Stefano Luparia, Ferrari’s new car concept specialist, detailed the challenges of adapting the artwork to the SF-26’s complex surfaces. This also involved meeting aerodynamic requirements and integrating innovative printing technologies.
HP Latex technology was specifically used to reproduce the intricate blueprint graphics on the race cars. HP Z Workstations supported the digital design and engineering workflows for the livery’s preparation.
The project resulted in two distinct forms: a race-ready livery for Austin and a display car. The display car features hidden graphics that fluoresce blue under ultraviolet light.
This required HP engineers to adapt an existing invisible blue ink for the HP Indigo 200K Digital Press. The process involved refining its application across the car’s complex curves.
The United States Grand Prix weekend at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) runs from October 23 to 25, 2026. This event marks Round 18 of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
Ferrari is one of several teams introducing special liveries for the Austin event. Mercedes will feature a blue design in collaboration with MANUFAKTUR.
Haas will run a Godzilla-themed livery, while Cadillac will sport a design inspired by the American West. Aston Martin also has a special livery celebrating its partnership with Cognizant.
Ferrari currently holds second place in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing Mercedes by 134 points. The team maintains a 105-point advantage over McLaren.
In the Drivers’ standings, Lewis Hamilton is third, with Charles Leclerc in fifth position. Leclerc is 14 points behind Hamilton.
Team Principal Fred Vasseur acknowledged the demanding nature of COTA. He stated Ferrari aims to build on recent encouraging performances from the Asian leg of the season.
The Circuit of the Americas is 5.513 kilometers long and features 20 turns. The race will cover 56 laps, totaling 308.405 kilometers.
Notable circuit characteristics include a steep uphill approach to Turn 1. Ferrari has previously secured two victories at COTA, with Kimi Raikkonen in 2018 and Charles Leclerc in 2024.
