Oliver Bearman, currently driving for Haas, has noted Lewis Hamilton’s infrequent use of the Ferrari Formula 1 simulator at Maranello. Bearman’s observations follow his own extensive work within the Ferrari development programme.

Bearman and Esteban Ocon are confirmed as Haas F1 drivers for the 2026 season. Both drivers are actively utilising the Ferrari simulator as part of the technical partnership between Haas and Ferrari.

This arrangement allows Haas personnel to contribute to Ferrari’s car development while gaining crucial experience. Their work includes contributing to the 2026 car, which will operate under significant new regulations.

Hamilton’s approach to simulator work has historically differed from that of younger drivers. He has often prioritised real-world track time over extensive virtual sessions.

Team principals at Mercedes, Hamilton’s current team, have previously acknowledged his selective use of the simulator. He typically engages with it for specific setup adjustments or when preparing for new circuits.

The 2026 season introduces substantial regulation changes, particularly concerning power units and aerodynamics. This makes simulator development work increasingly critical for all teams.

Bearman’s dual role as a Haas driver and a Ferrari reserve driver places him centrally in the development efforts for the upcoming regulatory cycle. This includes considerable time in the Maranello simulator.

His comments suggest that Hamilton, despite his confirmed move to Ferrari for the 2025 season and beyond, has not been a regular presence in the simulator facilities. This aligns with the habits of many highly experienced drivers.
