Race Summary & Analysis (2026)

Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured a commanding victory for Mercedes at the Chinese Grand Prix, leading a dominant 1-2 finish for the team. Antonelli completed 56 laps to take the chequered flag, with teammate George Russell following 5.515 seconds behind to claim second place. The final podium position was secured by Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, who finished a distant 25.267 seconds behind the race winner, highlighting the significant pace advantage held by the Mercedes duo.

Behind the podium finishers, Ferrari solidified a strong team result with Charles Leclerc crossing the line in fourth position. Oliver Bearman delivered a standout performance for the Haas F1 Team, clinching an impressive fifth place. Alpine F1 Team also celebrated a double-points finish, with Pierre Gasly taking sixth and Franco Colapinto rounding out the top ten in P10. The remaining points were awarded to Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls in seventh, Isack Hadjar for Red Bull in eighth, and Carlos Sainz, who brought his Williams home in ninth position, one lap down.

The race featured a high rate of attrition, with four drivers failing to complete the first lap: McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, Gabriel Bortoleto of Audi, and Alexander Albon of Williams. Further retirements saw Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll classified after completing just 9 laps, while teammate Fernando Alonso managed 32 laps. In a notable result, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was also classified despite not finishing, completing 45 of the 56 laps before retiring from the event.
