Valtteri Bottas faces a scheduling conflict in the 2026 Formula 1 season, with his gravel cycling world championship commitments clashing directly with the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix weekend. The Finn has qualified for the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships, an event scheduled for Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. This coincides precisely with the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, which is set to run from October 9 to 11 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Bottas, driving for the new Cadillac team in the current F1 season, has developed a significant presence in professional cycling. His qualification for the world championships follows a fifth-place finish in his group at a recent UCI Gravel World Series event.
The 2026 Formula 1 season marks Cadillac’s debut, with the team utilizing Ferrari power units. Cadillac has encountered a challenging start to their inaugural campaign, experiencing recurring brake issues.
These technical problems have led to multiple retirements for the team, including double DNFs in Austria and Hungary. Bottas himself was forced to retire from the Hungarian Grand Prix after his left-front brake caught fire, necessitating the use of the pit wall to slow his car due to complete brake loss.
Despite the team’s struggles, Bottas has indicated an increase in confidence regarding the Cadillac car in recent events. He stated that he feels he is now performing at the level expected of him.
‘Finally, I feel like I’m on the level that I should be driving,’ Bottas commented recently.
Bottas’s best result for Cadillac this season remains a 13th-place finish in Shanghai, and he is currently among the drivers yet to score championship points. The team continues to work on resolving the persistent brake overheating issues, which have been a consistent concern throughout the 2026 season.
