Valtteri Bottas has commenced a 350-kilometre cycling journey from Sepang, Malaysia, to Singapore ahead of the upcoming Grand Prix weekend. The Cadillac F1 Team driver began his multi-day endurance ride on Sunday evening, following the conclusion of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
This unconventional method of travel follows a disappointing retirement for Bottas at the Sepang International Circuit. The Malaysian venue hosted the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix from October 2-4, a relocation necessitated by ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Bottas completed the first leg of his journey on Sunday night, covering 56 kilometres in approximately two hours. He is expected to arrive in Singapore in time for the mandatory media obligations preceding the race weekend.
The Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for October 9-11, will take place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. This event marks Round 17 of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship.
Bottas is recognised for his commitment to cycling, frequently integrating it into his physical and mental training regimen. He is an ambassador for Canyon bikes and actively participates in high-level gravel cycling events.
His dedication to the sport extends beyond training, as he has co-founded gravel races in his native Finland. This approach to fitness is a consistent element of his preparation for the demanding Formula 1 season.
The Sepang International Circuit, located approximately 45 kilometres south of Kuala Lumpur, previously hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix from 1999 to 2017. Its return to the calendar for the relocated Bahrain Grand Prix was a notable development for the 2026 season.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore is known for its challenging night race format. Drivers face high temperatures and humidity during the event, making physical conditioning a critical factor.
