Isack Hadjar will not compete in the upcoming 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort. The Oracle Red Bull Racing driver sustained a wrist injury during the recent summer shutdown, necessitating his withdrawal from the event. Liam Lawson will step into Hadjar’s seat for the weekend.
The injury occurred during a gym session, with some reports indicating it was sustained during boxing training. Hadjar is expected to recover in time for the Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for September 6.
Hadjar, the 21-year-old Frenchman, has had a notable first season with Red Bull. He has secured top-six finishes in his last seven races, achieving a season-best fourth place at the Monaco Grand Prix. He currently holds eighth position in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship standings with 68 points.
Liam Lawson, who currently races for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, will take Hadjar’s place alongside Max Verstappen. Lawson sits ninth in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship with 43 points after 11 rounds. He has scored points in all but three races this season.
Lawson’s Formula 1 debut occurred at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, where he substituted for an injured Daniel Ricciardo. He also had a brief two-race stint with Red Bull at the start of the 2025 season before returning to Racing Bulls.
Yuki Tsunoda, Red Bull’s reserve driver, will fill Lawson’s vacant seat at Visa Cash App Racing Bulls for the Zandvoort event. He will race alongside Arvid Lindblad. Tsunoda last competed in Formula 1 at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Tsunoda was promoted to Red Bull in early 2025, replacing Lawson, but was subsequently replaced by Hadjar at the end of the 2025 season. He has since served as a reserve driver for both Red Bull teams.
The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix, Round 12 of the World Championship, is scheduled from August 21-23 at Circuit Zandvoort. This event marks the first time Zandvoort will host a sprint weekend. The circuit is set to leave the Formula 1 calendar after this season.
The race weekend schedule includes Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying on Friday, August 21. Saturday, August 22, will feature the F1 Sprint and Grand Prix Qualifying. The main Dutch Grand Prix race will take place on Sunday, August 23.
Oracle Red Bull Racing currently fields Max Verstappen, who is sixth in the Drivers’ Championship with 109 points. Visa Cash App Racing Bulls holds fifth position in the Constructors’ standings.
