Isack Hadjar has received an encouraging medical update regarding his wrist injury, with a definitive decision on his participation in the upcoming Italian Grand Prix at Monza expected on Wednesday, September 2. The Oracle Red Bull Racing driver missed the recent Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort due to the injury.
Hadjar sustained a minor fracture or hairline crack in his wrist during a training session involving boxing over the Formula 1 summer break. His absence from the Zandvoort event was a precautionary measure to prevent further aggravation of the injury.
Liam Lawson, a full-time driver for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, stepped in to partner Max Verstappen at Oracle Red Bull Racing for the Dutch Grand Prix. Lawson qualified closely to Verstappen and secured a seventh-place finish, earning points for the team.
Yuki Tsunoda, who serves as a reserve driver for both Red Bull squads, filled Lawson’s vacant seat at Visa Cash App Racing Bulls for the Zandvoort weekend. Tsunoda raced alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad.
Hadjar, 21, is currently positioned eighth in the 2026 F1 Drivers’ Championship standings. He has achieved three top-five finishes across 11 starts during the current season.
The French driver expressed his dissatisfaction with being sidelined, noting that this wrist injury marks his first in his career. He remains optimistic about his recovery progress.
‘It is not swollen, which is very good,’ Hadjar stated. ‘That is a good sign. It is recovering very quickly. Every day I have a little more mobility in it and I am hopeful for Monza.’
Both Hadjar and Oracle Red Bull Racing are reportedly optimistic about his return to the cockpit for the Italian Grand Prix. The event is scheduled to take place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza from September 4 to 6, 2026, marking the 15th race on the current F1 calendar.
