Arvid Lindblad has stated he holds no regrets regarding Racing Bulls’ strategic decision at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, despite finishing tenth while teammate Liam Lawson secured eighth place. The race, held on July 26 at the Hungaroring, saw Racing Bulls split their tyre strategies in an attempt to maximise their points haul.

Lindblad’s tenth-place finish marked his sixth consecutive points-scoring result this season. Racing Bulls’ combined efforts in Hungary propelled them to fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, accumulating 66 points and moving ahead of Alpine.

The team opted for a bold one-stop strategy for Lindblad after a challenging start to the race. This contrasted with Lawson’s more conventional two-stop approach, which ultimately proved to be the more effective tactic on the demanding Hungaroring circuit.

The Hungaroring is renowned for its tight, twisty layout, often likened to a kart track or ‘Monaco without the walls,’ making overtaking inherently difficult. Pirelli supplied the C3, C4, and C5 compounds – the softest in their range – for the event, with high thermal degradation expected, particularly on the rear tyres.

Pirelli’s pre-race assessment indicated that both one-stop and two-stop strategies could converge on overall race time, with track position being a critical factor. High temperatures during the Grand Prix typically favour the harder compounds, influencing strategic choices.

Lindblad, who qualified ninth, experienced a poor start to the race, losing ground on the opening lap. The team’s decision to commit him to a one-stop strategy aimed to recover positions, relying on the durability of the hard compound tyres.

However, the increased tyre degradation in the high temperatures meant that any initial gains from stopping once were quickly negated. Lindblad’s defence did not hold in the closing stages, as drivers on fresher tyres were able to advance.

Lawson, who started 11th, made a strong start, gaining positions and passing Lindblad early in the race. His team switched him to a two-stop strategy on Lap 42 to counter the threat from Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg, a move that ultimately secured his eighth-place finish.

Nico Hulkenberg, driving for Audi, finished ninth, securing his first points of the 2026 season. He executed a two-stop strategy, overtaking both Lindblad and his teammate Gabriel Bortoleto, who was also on a one-stop, in the final laps on soft tyres.

The final top ten classification for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix was: Lando Norris (McLaren), Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Isack Hadjar (Red Bull), George Russell (Mercedes), Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls), Nico Hulkenberg (Audi), and Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls).

Audi’s performance in Hungary, with Hulkenberg’s points, moved them to eighth in the Constructors’ Championship with 12 points. This marked their third consecutive points-scoring weekend, following Gabriel Bortoleto’s eighth-place finishes in Britain and Belgium.
