Honda is preparing a substantial power unit upgrade for the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, set for introduction at the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix. This development aims to enhance the team’s competitive position in the current 2026 season.

The new power unit specification is projected to deliver a performance gain of up to half a second per lap, according to initial simulations. This potential improvement is critical for Aston Martin’s ambitions.

The partnership between Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and Aston Martin commenced with the 2026 season. Honda serves as the official power unit supplier, providing full factory support to the Silverstone-based squad.

Adrian Newey, who joined Aston Martin as Chief Technical Officer earlier this year, is central to the team’s car development. His expertise is crucial in integrating such performance enhancements.

Fernando Alonso remains a key driver for Aston Martin, having extended his contract through the 2026 season and beyond. He will be directly benefiting from these power unit advancements.

The upgrade focuses on improving energy recovery systems and the internal combustion engine’s efficiency. These technical advancements are designed to optimize overall power delivery.

This strategic update is expected to significantly boost Aston Martin’s performance, particularly on circuits that demand robust power output. The team has been collaborating closely with Honda.

Mike Krack, Aston Martin Team Principal, has previously expressed confidence in the Honda collaboration. He highlighted the importance of continuous power unit evolution throughout the season.

The Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort is scheduled for late August this year, marking it as a crucial event for the introduction of these new components.
