Visa Cash App Racing Bulls secured a valuable double points finish at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, concluding the first half of the Formula 1 season on a strong note. The result at the Hungaroring on July 26 saw the team advance to fifth position in the constructors’ standings.

Liam Lawson finished eighth, earning four points, while teammate Arvid Lindblad secured tenth place, adding one point to the team’s tally. This combined effort yielded five crucial points for Racing Bulls.

Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, Racing Bulls and Alpine were tied on 61 points in the constructors’ championship. The strong performance in Budapest allowed Racing Bulls to break this deadlock.

Alpine, in contrast, experienced a challenging weekend with both drivers finishing outside the points. Pierre Gasly crossed the line in twelfth position, and Franco Colapinto finished fifteenth.

The outcome means Racing Bulls now holds 66 points, placing them five points clear of Alpine, who remain on 61 points. This shift elevates Racing Bulls to fifth and drops Alpine to sixth in the standings.

Liam Lawson acknowledged the team’s strategic decisions following his performance. ‘It was a good race for us today,’ Lawson stated. ‘The first corner and lap one was obviously very important for me given I had a challenging qualifying yesterday.’

‘A huge thanks to the team who made the right call on the two-stop strategy. To have two cars in the points is a great way to round off the first half of the season.’

Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane praised the team’s execution. He highlighted the strong start and the effective two-stop strategy employed for Lawson.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly recently expressed concerns about the team’s performance. He noted that midfield rivals were ‘miles ahead’ after a sudden drop in competitiveness.

This sentiment follows a period where Alpine had shown improved form earlier in the season, particularly after switching to Mercedes power units. However, recent races have seen a decline.

Racing Bulls, conversely, has demonstrated consistent progress, including an upgrade package introduced at the Belgian Grand Prix. This has contributed to their recent run of points finishes.

The team’s ability to maximise their car’s potential, particularly on technical circuits like the Hungaroring, has been a key factor in their ascent.

The Formula 1 season now enters its summer break, with Racing Bulls carrying momentum into the second half of the championship.
