Cadillac has announced a significant triple signing to bolster its technical department, bringing in experienced personnel from leading Formula 1 teams. Craig Skinner, formerly Red Bull’s chief designer, joins as Chief Development Engineer.
Skinner spent two decades at Red Bull, contributing to the development of championship-winning cars, including the dominant RB19. His new role involves providing technical direction across Cadillac’s development process.
Eric Blandin has been appointed Head of Aerodynamics. Blandin’s extensive career includes senior aerodynamic roles at Ferrari and Mercedes, and a tenure as Deputy Technical Director at Aston Martin.
Completing the trio is Tim Lean, who takes on the position of Chief Engineer for Aerodynamics Modelling and Simulation. Lean brings over 20 years of aerodynamic experience from McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari.
These appointments are effective following periods of gardening leave, with Skinner expected to commence his role in mid-November. The hires are seen as a vital step in the team’s technical evolution.
Cadillac Team Principal Marcin Budkowski stated that integrating experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics, and modelling will strengthen the technical organisation. This is aimed at improving on-track performance.
The American squad is currently in its debut 2026 Formula 1 season and sits at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship standings with zero points. Marcin Budkowski assumed the role of Team Principal in August, replacing Graeme Lowdon.
For their inaugural 2026 season, Cadillac confirmed Valtteri Bottas and former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez as their race drivers. This driver lineup was announced in August 2025.
Cadillac is utilising Ferrari power units for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, with plans for General Motors to debut its own power unit from 2029. Pat Symonds also joined the team as Executive Engineering Consultant on January 1st.
