Cadillac has implemented a dynamic livery strategy throughout its inaugural Formula 1 campaign, with Team Principal Graeme Lowdon explaining that these evolving designs reflect the team’s core philosophy. The American squad has aimed to differentiate itself on the grid since its entry into the championship this year.
The team commenced the 2026 season with a bold asymmetric livery, a concept publicly unveiled during the Super Bowl halftime show on February 8, 2026. This distinctive black-and-white design, featuring a chevron-based gradient, was also showcased in Times Square.
Lowdon stated that this initial unusual design was part of a broader strategy to introduce fresh ideas into Formula 1. The asymmetric scheme ran for the opening rounds of the season, including the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
Cadillac later introduced a special livery for the Miami Grand Prix, which incorporated a ‘Stars and Stripes’ motif. This particular design proved popular among fans and garnered positive reception.
Between the Miami event and the current design, Cadillac also featured a one-off red, white, and blue colour scheme. This livery, adorned with stars and stripes icons on the front wing and engine cover, commemorated the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The patriotic design was run at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone during the July 4th weekend. The special colour scheme extended beyond the MAC-26 cars to include the garage dressing, driver helmets, and team kit.
The team’s current livery, introduced at the recent Belgian Grand Prix, draws heavily from the well-received Miami version. This marks a departure from the original asymmetric split design, with Lowdon confirming the current look is ‘quite similar’ to the Miami livery.
Lowdon emphasised that these changing liveries are consistent with Cadillac’s aggressive car development throughout its debut campaign. The team has introduced a steady stream of upgrades, underlining its determination to become competitive.
Cadillac, operating as the 11th team on the grid, made its competitive debut at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix on March 8, 2026. Drivers Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas have piloted the Ferrari-powered MAC-26 chassis throughout the season.
As of July 20, 2026, following the Belgian Grand Prix, Cadillac has not yet scored any points in the Constructors’ Championship after 10 rounds. Valtteri Bottas’s P13 finish in China remains the team’s best result this season.
General Motors, Cadillac’s parent company, is scheduled to debut its own Formula 1 power unit in 2029. Colton Herta serves as the team’s test driver.
