An analyst has advised Red Bull against releasing Liam Lawson from their Formula 1 programme for the 2027 season. This counsel emerges as Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls, evaluates its driver lineup for the upcoming year.

Lawson is currently competing for Racing Bulls during the 2026 Formula 1 season. His existing contract with the team is scheduled to conclude at the end of the current campaign.

The New Zealander delivered a notable performance at the recent Singapore Grand Prix, securing valuable points in both the Sprint race and the Grand Prix.

Lawson presently holds ninth position in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship standings. He has contributed over half of Racing Bulls’ total points accumulated this season.

Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane confirmed that a definitive decision regarding their 2027 driver lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

Lawson is currently contending for one of the two Racing Bulls seats for 2027. His rivals for these positions include current teammate Arvid Lindblad and Formula 2 driver Nikola Tsolov.

The advice suggests that removing Lawson from the Red Bull driver pool, considering his consistent performance and significant contribution, would constitute a strategic misstep for the organisation.

For the 2026 season, the primary Red Bull Racing team has confirmed Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar as their driver pairing.

Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad are the confirmed drivers for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls for the 2026 season.

Sergio Pérez, who previously drove for Red Bull Racing, is confirmed to be competing for Cadillac in the 2026 Formula 1 season.
