Fernando Alonso, the 45-year-old Aston Martin driver, has been appointed Global Brand Ambassador and Wellness Advisor for SHA Wellness. This partnership aligns the medical wellness group’s focus on longevity with Alonso’s extended career in Formula 1.
SHA Wellness specialises in health, wellbeing, and performance optimisation. The collaboration highlights the role of sustained physical and mental capacity in elite performance, a principle central to Alonso’s two decades in motorsport.
Alonso stated, ‘To compete at the highest level for this long, I’ve learned that performance starts with health. It is not only about what happens on the track, but how you prepare, recover and look after yourself every day.’
SHA’s method when it comes to health, longevity and performance reflects how I have approached performance throughout my career.
SHA Wellness employs a multidisciplinary approach, integrating natural therapies, often derived from Eastern knowledge, with advanced Western medicine. Their personalised programmes encompass preventive medicine, advanced diagnostics, nutrition, physical training, and recovery.
The clinic was founded by Alfredo Bataller Parietti, who developed its core philosophy after recovering from chronic health issues through macrobiotic nutrition. SHA currently operates facilities in Spain and Mexico.
The wellness group is expanding its international presence, with SHA Emirates scheduled to open in 2027 or 2028. Alonso’s global profile provides a bridge between elite sport and medical wellness for the company’s growth.
In Formula 1, Alonso recently confirmed a contract extension with Aston Martin, committing him to the team through the 2027 season. This decision followed speculation regarding a potential move to the World Endurance Championship.
Alonso, who holds the record for most Grand Prix starts with 441, is the oldest driver on the current grid. He is a two-time World Champion with 32 Grand Prix victories and 106 podium finishes.
The 2026 season has presented challenges for Aston Martin, with the team currently tenth in the Constructors’ Championship. Alonso has scored all three of the team’s points this year, including a ninth-place finish in the Netherlands.
Alonso has voiced concerns regarding the 2026 car regulations, particularly their reliance on electrical power. Despite this, he has expressed confidence in Aston Martin’s long-term development, especially with Adrian Newey joining the team.
The team achieved its strongest result of the current season with Alonso’s eighth-place finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Sepang circuit in early October. The Formula 1 calendar now moves to the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.
