Raymond Vermeulen, manager for four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen, was present at the Red Bull GmbH headquarters in Fuschl am See, Austria, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. This high-level meeting occurs amidst ongoing discussions regarding Verstappen’s future with the team.

Verstappen is currently contracted to Red Bull until the conclusion of the 2028 season. However, his agreement includes a performance clause. This clause permits him to depart the team at the end of 2026 if he is not positioned within the top two of the Drivers’ Championship standings by the summer break.

Following the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend, Verstappen is currently sixth in the standings, trailing Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli by over 100 points. This position confirms the automatic activation of the performance clause in his contract.

Reports from German publication BILD indicate that Red Bull has presented Verstappen and his management with a new contract offer. This proposed deal would extend his tenure until the end of the 2029 season.

Crucially, the new offer is understood to include a significant pay increase and would remove the existing performance clause from his contract. Verstappen has until October to make a definitive decision on his future.

Despite the activated clause and Red Bull’s new proposal, Vermeulen has publicly stated that Verstappen intends to honour his current contract through 2028. He clarified that the existence of the clause does not automatically mean it will be invoked.

The 2026 Formula 1 season has proven challenging for Red Bull, with the team currently holding sixth place in the Constructors’ standings. Verstappen has yet to secure a victory this year, with his best result being a second-place finish at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Verstappen has voiced dissatisfaction with the 2026 regulations and the performance of the RB22 car. This ongoing concern has contributed to the speculation surrounding his long-term commitment to the team.

Raymond Vermeulen’s role as Verstappen’s manager involves strategic advice, contract negotiations, and managing the driver’s brand. He serves as a key intermediary between Verstappen and Red Bull management.

The Red Bull GmbH headquarters, where the meeting took place, is situated at Am Brunnen 1, Fuschl am See, Salzburg, Austria.

Earlier in July, Vermeulen and Jos Verstappen were photographed meeting with former Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko in Amsterdam. Vermeulen later described this as a private gathering related to Max’s sister’s wedding.

‘There’s a lot being written about it,’ Vermeulen said. ‘But the truth is, Max wants to finish his time with Red Bull. He has a contract until 2028 and would like to fulfil it.’

The situation remains under close observation as the deadline for Verstappen’s decision approaches, with Red Bull actively working to secure his future beyond the current contractual terms.
