The official trophy for the first Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid has been unveiled. Named ‘Monumental’, the design was created by the Italian studio Pininfarina and was selected from three finalists. The presentation took place at the Palacio de Cibeles.

The trophy’s design is directly inspired by the new ‘Madring’ circuit. Its form is based on the full track layout, stretched and shaped to represent the circuit’s signature banked corner, Turn 12, which is also named ‘Monumental’. This corner is set to be the longest on the calendar.

The piece is an aluminum sculpture intended to convey motion and precision. A crimson red line, a reference to the city of Madrid, runs through the interior of the structure, tracing the complete circuit layout. Pininfarina has previously designed F1 trophies for other events, including those in Qatar and Azerbaijan.

A distinguished jury selected the winning design. The panel included two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz, along with figures from the worlds of art, design, and Formula 1. Sainz noted that a designer like Pininfarina demonstrates the scale and ambition of the Madrid project.

The inaugural race in Madrid marks the return of Formula 1 to the Spanish capital after an absence of 45 years. The event is scheduled to take place from September 11 to 13. The new circuit is a semi-permanent hybrid layout built around the IFEMA Madrid exhibition centre.

The track is approximately 5.47km long and will feature 20 to 22 corners. It combines temporary street-style sections with a permanent, purpose-built area that includes elevation changes and the heavily banked ‘La Monumental’ corner. The venue is expected to have an initial capacity of 110,000 spectators.
