Andreas Seidl, CEO of Audi F1, has addressed ongoing speculation regarding Carlos Sainz’s long-term future with the team. Seidl confirmed that driver decisions for the 2027 Formula 1 season are part of Audi’s comprehensive strategy as they prepare for their full factory entry.

Sainz is currently competing for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber during the 2026 Formula 1 season. He joined the team for the 2025 campaign on a two-year agreement, following his departure from Ferrari.

The Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber operates as the precursor to Audi’s full factory involvement. The German manufacturer is set to officially enter Formula 1 as a works team in 2027.

Seidl acknowledged Sainz’s performance and his value to the team’s ongoing development. He indicated that Audi is focused on building its F1 project foundations.

Discussions concerning the 2027 driver lineup remain internal. Seidl stated that any official announcements would be made when appropriate.

Audi aims to establish itself as a front-running competitor upon its full entry. Securing a strong and consistent driver pairing is considered a key component of this long-term objective.

The current 2026 driver lineup for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber includes Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg. This configuration supports the team’s transition phase.

The driver market for the 2027 season is expected to intensify as teams finalize their plans. Audi’s position in these discussions is significant.
