Andrea Kimi Antonelli has established a dominant position in the 2026 Formula 1 season with Mercedes, securing multiple victories and leading the Drivers’ Championship. This performance highlights a contrasting trajectory for Oliver Bearman, currently competing with Haas.

Antonelli, a Mercedes driver since 2025, has achieved five Grand Prix wins, five pole positions, and ten podium finishes as of the 2026 British Grand Prix.

His breakthrough season includes a maiden victory at the Chinese Grand Prix on March 15, 2026, where he also became the youngest F1 polesitter.

The Chinese Grand Prix saw Mercedes secure a one-two finish, with Antonelli leading teammate George Russell. Lewis Hamilton, now with Ferrari, completed the podium in Shanghai.

Antonelli’s winning streak continued with victories in Japan, Miami, Canada, and Monaco, propelling him to a 25-point lead over Russell in the championship standings by early July.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has credited Antonelli’s race engineer, Peter Bonnington, for his role in the young Italian’s rapid success.

Oliver Bearman, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, is in his second full season with Haas, having joined the team in 2025.

Bearman made his Formula 1 debut in 2024 as a stand-in for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where he scored points.

Despite consistent performances with Haas, Bearman has yet to secure an F1 win or podium finish in his career.

His best result in the 2026 season was a fifth-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix.

With Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc holding long-term contracts at Ferrari, opportunities for Bearman at the Scuderia appear limited in the immediate future.

Speculation has linked Bearman with a potential move to Red Bull for the 2027 season, amidst uncertainty surrounding Max Verstappen’s future with the team.

“Ollie has just got to keep reminding Ferrari that he’s there. That’s his goal, right? It’s to remind Ferrari that when the day comes when Lewis [Hamilton] decides he’s had enough or Charles [Leclerc] decides he might want to move on, Ollie is there in pole position to take that seat. And so far, you’d have to say he’s done a great job of it.”

Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft noted that Red Bull is closely monitoring Bearman’s progress.
