During the Sprint race for the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen secured victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Red Bull driver mastered challenging wet-to-dry conditions to claim his first win in Singapore.
Lewis Hamilton finished second for Ferrari, leading a double podium for the Scuderia. His teammate Charles Leclerc secured third position. Kimi Antonelli, the Mercedes driver and 2026 championship leader, finished fourth.
Verstappen initially lost the lead to George Russell at the start. However, the Red Bull driver regained control after Russell crashed out at the final corner in damp conditions. Verstappen then managed his intermediate tyres effectively.
Hamilton made a strong start from sixth on the grid, immediately climbing to third and moving ahead of Leclerc. Ferrari experienced some struggles with intermediate tyre degradation as the circuit dried. Hamilton later recovered stronger pace.
Leclerc’s more aggressive balance choice became increasingly difficult as the track evolved. Despite this, he held on to secure a valuable third place for Ferrari. The result marked a positive outcome for the team at Marina Bay.
Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Isack Hadjar, retired from the Sprint race. Hadjar experienced brake problems during the event, forcing him out of contention. This incident further impacted his intra-team battle with Verstappen.
Verstappen currently holds a 77-point advantage over Hadjar in their internal Red Bull competition. Hadjar is eighth in the 2026 Drivers’ Championship with 68 points, while Verstappen sits sixth with 163 points.
Kimi Antonelli leads the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen’s victory in Singapore adds to his season tally, which includes seven podium finishes but no prior wins before this Sprint.
George Russell’s early exit occurred after he passed Verstappen at the start but then made a mistake and crashed. McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris also made contact on the final lap.
Liam Lawson finished fifth for Racing Bulls, followed by Oliver Bearman in sixth for Haas. Nico Hulkenberg secured seventh for Audi, with Lando Norris recovering to eighth. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly completed the top ten.
