Arvid Lindblad, a Racing Bulls driver, has successfully passed his UK driving theory test. This milestone occurred on September 14, 2026, the day following the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. Lindblad is currently the only active Formula 1 driver without a full road driving licence.
The 19-year-old Briton completed both sections of the examination. He achieved a score of 46 out of 50 in the multiple-choice segment, surpassing the required pass mark of 43 points. In the hazard perception section, Lindblad scored 52 out of a possible 75, exceeding the 44-point threshold.
This was Lindblad’s second attempt at the theory test, having previously missed the pass mark by a single point earlier this year. His successful completion now permits him to book his practical driving test. The theory test certificate remains valid for a period of two years.
The Spanish Grand Prix, held at the Madring circuit in Madrid on September 13, 2026, saw Lindblad finish ninth, securing points for Racing Bulls. During the same race weekend, he experienced a crash in the second free practice session at Turn 13.
Lindblad’s participation in Formula 1 is facilitated by an FIA Super Licence, which he obtained with an exemption before his 18th birthday. This professional racing credential is distinct from a standard road driving licence, which is required for operating vehicles on public roads in the United Kingdom.
As a rookie in the 2026 Formula 1 season, Lindblad has accumulated 31 points to date. Racing Bulls currently holds fifth position in the constructors’ standings with a total of 77 points. The Formula 1 calendar continues with the next round in Baku, scheduled for September 24.
