Max Verstappen has recently reiterated the paramount importance of family in his life, particularly highlighting his daughter, Lily. The Red Bull driver consistently states that his family remains his greatest priority, irrespective of his on-track results.

Verstappen, a four-time world champion, welcomed Lily in April 2025 with partner Kelly Piquet. He has openly discussed the increasing difficulty of departing for Formula 1 race weekends as his daughter, now 15 months old, actively reacts to his absences.

The emotional impact of leaving home resonates with his own upbringing. Verstappen draws parallels to his father, Jos Verstappen, who also found it challenging to leave for races during his Formula 1 career.

Fatherhood has provided Verstappen with a renewed sense of balance and perspective, shifting his personal priorities beyond his extensive achievements in motorsport. This change has been a significant aspect of his life since Lily’s birth.

He advocates for a parenting approach that allows children to determine their own paths, rather than being pushed into specific directions. Verstappen believes this philosophy is crucial, drawing from lessons learned during his own childhood.

Beyond his immediate family, Verstappen also refers to his Red Bull Racing team as ‘family’. He recently extended his contract with the Milton Keynes outfit until the end of the 2030 season, citing this strong team bond.

This commitment comes amidst a challenging 2026 Formula 1 season for Red Bull, where the team has yet to secure a victory. Red Bull currently holds fourth position in the Constructors’ Championship standings.

Verstappen has voiced concerns regarding the new 2026 technical regulations, particularly the emphasis on battery management. He has described these aspects as ‘not fun to drive’ and ‘not F1-worthy’.

Adding to the family narrative, Kelly Piquet recently shared a personal message about a ‘difficult month’ as a parent. She underscored the importance of peace, stability, and emotional safety for children.

Verstappen publicly supported Piquet’s sentiments, liking her social media post. This further illustrates the ongoing interplay between his demanding professional life and his deeply valued family commitments.
