Red Bull Racing has ended all speculation regarding Max Verstappen’s future by signing the driver to a new contract extending to the end of the 2030 season. The agreement was announced ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend.

This new deal secures the four-time world champion’s services for the long term. It puts a definitive end to rumours that had linked him with potential moves to rivals Mercedes and McLaren.

The contract extension is a significant statement of intent from both parties. It comes during a difficult 2026 season for the team under the new technical regulations. Red Bull has struggled for performance, while Mercedes has established a dominant position.

Verstappen is currently sixth in the world championship standings. The Dutch driver has been vocal in his criticism of the new regulations, which place a heavy emphasis on electrical energy management.

He has previously described the current style of racing as ‘anti-racing’ and expressed his dissatisfaction with the driving experience. There had been suggestions he might even consider his future in the sport if the direction did not change.

In the team’s announcement, Verstappen affirmed his commitment to returning to the front of the grid with the team. ‘We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again,’ he stated.

Securing their lead driver amidst a performance slump and his open criticism of the sport’s rules is a major strategic success for Red Bull’s management. It provides crucial stability for the team’s future plans.

The length of the contract ensures Verstappen will be with the team not only for the remainder of the current regulation cycle but also for the start of the next one, which is anticipated for 2030.
