Haas F1 Team prepares for the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort following the Formula 1 summer break. The team currently holds seventh position in the 2026 Constructors’ Championship, having accumulated 21 points.

The season began with promise, as Haas secured points finishes in its first five races. Oliver Bearman notably achieved a fifth-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix, contributing significantly to the team’s early tally.

However, performance has since declined, with the team failing to score points in any race since Round 6. This mid-season slump has impacted their standing against midfield rivals.

Team Principal Ayao Komatsu acknowledged the challenging period before the shutdown. He emphasized the summer break’s importance for a ‘reset’ and a thorough analysis of the car’s underlying issues.

The VF-26 chassis has exhibited inconsistent performance, particularly concerning aerodynamic stability and tyre degradation in race conditions. Updates introduced have not consistently delivered expected gains.

Komatsu has attributed these development struggles to the team’s ‘environmental’ constraints. He noted Haas operates with the smallest workforce on the grid, limiting rapid turnaround capabilities.

Oliver Bearman has been the primary points scorer for Haas, contributing 18 of the team’s 21 points. He leads teammate Esteban Ocon in both qualifying and race head-to-head statistics.

Bearman expressed frustration with the car’s inconsistencies, stating it has ‘not always been a fair fight’. This highlights the internal challenges faced by the drivers.

Esteban Ocon has secured 3 points this season and has struggled to find a consistent rhythm with the VF-26. He has experienced more Q1 exits compared to Bearman.

The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort presents a unique challenge with its high-speed banking corners and tight, undulating layout. Overtaking opportunities are limited, demanding strong qualifying performance.

This weekend will also mark Zandvoort’s first time hosting an F1 Sprint event. This format reduces practice time, placing immediate operational pressure on all teams.

The circuit’s characteristics, which demand high downforce and precise balance, could amplify the VF-26’s known weaknesses. This 2026 event is also set to be the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
