Lando Norris secured his first victory of the 2026 Formula 1 season at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, July 26. Following the race, the reigning World Drivers’ Champion commented on the championship battle, specifically addressing current leader Kimi Antonelli.

Norris, driving for McLaren, currently sits fifth in the drivers’ standings. He is 91 points behind Mercedes driver Antonelli.

The Briton stated that Antonelli ‘should feel the pressure’ given the championship lead. Norris made the remarks in a post-race interview, suggesting the 91-point deficit could be overcome.

Norris, who claimed his second career victory at the Hungaroring, indicated that McLaren has shown strong form recently. He also noted that Mercedes, Antonelli’s team, has made more errors this season.

Kimi Antonelli, at 19 years old, leads the 2026 World Drivers’ Championship. He finished third in the Hungarian Grand Prix, extending his overall points advantage.

Antonelli’s podium finish in Hungary marked his ninth top-three result from the first eleven races of the season. He is currently the youngest championship leader in Formula 1 history.

The Hungarian Grand Prix saw Norris convert pole position into victory. Max Verstappen finished second for Red Bull, with Antonelli completing the podium.

McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri retired from the race due to a gearbox issue. Piastri had initially challenged Norris for the lead in the opening stages.

The Formula 1 season will resume with the Dutch Grand Prix, scheduled for August 23. Eleven rounds remain in the current championship campaign.
