Max Verstappen has received vocal support from the ‘Orange Army’ at the Hungaroring during the Formula 1 AWS Hungarian Grand Prix 2026 weekend. Fans have been heard chanting ‘Tu tu tu du Max Verstappen’ throughout the event, demonstrating continued dedication to the Red Bull Racing driver.

The 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is taking place from July 24 to July 26 at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest. Today, Sunday, July 26, marks the main race event, which is scheduled to run from 15:00 to 17:00 local time.

Despite the enthusiastic fan reception, Verstappen has faced a challenging weekend leading up to the race. He qualified in sixth position, expressing significant frustration with the car’s performance.

Verstappen described the car as having ‘unexplainable problems’ that arise unpredictably. He did not conceal his dissatisfaction over the team radio following his Q3 spin during qualifying.

Earlier in the weekend, on July 24, Verstappen also addressed ongoing concerns regarding the 2026 Formula 1 regulations. He stated that he felt vindicated as more individuals are now echoing his criticisms of the new rules.

‘I’ve spoken my mind about these regulations already for a long time. In the beginning most people were saying, ‘Ah, he’s complaining; he should shut up.’ But I have to say that the last few races, more and more people are seeing the same thing that I could see coming already a long time ago.’

Verstappen clarified that his concerns are not linked to his personal performance but stem from a commitment to the sport’s integrity. He emphasized that the current racing dynamics are not always ‘realistic’.

Prior to the weekend, on July 22, Verstappen acknowledged the strong fan support in Hungary. He noted the importance of a strong start to the weekend for Red Bull Racing.

The Dutch driver had secured a third-place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix, marking Red Bull’s 300th F1 podium. He highlighted the Hungarian Grand Prix as the ‘final push’ before the summer break.

The Hungaroring presents a distinct track layout compared to Spa-Francorchamps, requiring a tailored approach to car setup. Verstappen stressed the need for precision from the initial practice sessions.
